Yes, If the temperature is lower than the temperature you set, it will automatically heat to the temperature you need, such as 135°F. Generally we recommend that it is better if your drink temperature is higher than the temperature you set.

Any other cup will not work. The heating element is in the accompanying cup itself. So, it have to be the accompanying plastic 12oz temperature cup it brings.

Yes, the mug can be washed under running water, when done, dry the mug completely before placing it back on the base coaster. Do not immerse the cup in water. Lids are dishwasher safe, we recommend an occasional wipe with a damp cloth to keep the butt coasters clean.
